According to the Instructions provided by Bosch Tool Corporation use the following two methods to test your battery: (actually you need a special testing tool to know if the battery is really damaged or not.)
Bosh Battery Testing Using Voltmeter
Please follow the following steps to know if your battery is damaged:
- First check the battery's voltage using a volt meter
- The charger the battery for about three to five minutes
- After charging for the above specified time, remove the battery from the charger and check the voltage reading of the battery. The reading has to be the max voltage of the batter otherwise it’s a sign of that battery has an internal short circuit.
Bosh Battery Testing without Using Voltmeter
- Use a 3hrs charger which can tell you whether a battery is damaged or not to charge the battery you want to test. You can use one of the following chargers for this purpose: Skil 92370, 92490, 92590 or 92990
- This test requires you to monitor the surface temperature of the charger while charging the battery. If the battery is damaged the charger starts to get over heated. If you sense that the charger is getting very hot, you should remove the battery from the charger immediately.
